A must go place on your trip to Charleston. Head out of the city and down to the beach- Sullivans island is a serene and quiet beach lined with gorgeous homes, making for a fabulous afternoon walk. Poes on Sullivans is known for its casual yet elevated sandwiches and burgers. A delicious choice!
One of Charlestons most happening spots, made famous by the butterfly photo mural featured on its rooftop. Uptown social is located on king, close to the venue. If you’re staying downtown for the weekend and looking for suggestions of nightlife- Uptown is a safe place to start!
Featured on Netflix’s latest TV hit, Outer Banks, Shem Creek offers exquisite sunset views and delicious food and drink options. They have a parking garage that allows you to walk to any of the restaurants on the creek, making it one of the easier spots to plan to get to in Charleston as parking is always a factor! Choices there include Saltwater Cowboys, Reds Ice House, Tavern and Table, Waters Edge, and Vickerys. Hidden in the back is a little bar called Muddys!
A fabulous industrial brewery right on the outskirts of the city- revelry has a wonderful selection of local handcrafted beers and are one of the few restaurants in Charleston that features a menu from TOBU sushi. Amazing food, drink, and vibes.
Another king street rooftop. Stars offers more of a dining menu than uptown and is less known for its liveliness around the younger crowd. An excellent option if you’re wanting to do rooftop drinks without necessarily being shoulder to shoulder with a college senior.
The bride and grooms go to Mexican spot when dining downtown charleston!
The Silver Dollar was once the place to be, though it has been replaced in local notoriety by more popular newer spots- there isn’t a night had between our crew in Charleston that doesn’t land us at the Silver Dollar. So for that reason alone, she’s on the list of nightlife suggestions!
Directly adjacent to the walkable Charleston Market, the oyster house is an excellent lunch choice featuring a raw oyster bar and a shaded patio for comfortable outdoor dining. It’s also less popular among typical Charleston recs and will likely be able to accommodate you without a reservation of any kind.
If Charleston was a bar, it would be Henrys. Henrys is an excellent stop right off market street directly in front of the carriage tour sign up if you were wanting to get on and take a tour of the city! Henrys features 3 floors of bars and indoor/outdoor seating and is eclectic in every sense of the word. The best!
We exclusively stop here to drink martinis by a pool while getting amazing views of the Ravenel bridge! They do offer a small plates menu- really this is for the views and the rooftop. They make a mean chocolate martini!
Famously converted church with angel wing pendants and writing all over the black ceilings- this is a great choice for a meal! They do a brunch as well which is excellent! A little bit on the pricier side but worth it for the ambience and elevated dining experience. They typically have open reservations through open table and are another easier spot to get into with short notice.
On the corner of John and King, this dueling Piano bar is lots of fun!! They also have good bar food like chicken tender platters and wings!
Right by Henrys, Pavilion, Church and union, and the Oyster House- plan to go here for southern pralines and candy apples after you’ve had a day on Market!
Retro themed bar that frequents in drag events and shows- one of Helenas favorite spots!
Located inside the Ryder hotel, Little Palm is a Palm Springs themed bar and restaurant with aesthetics for days. Typically the bridal party girls will meet here for the occasional girls day! Perfect rooftop for that charleston charm on your visit!
Another extremely aesthetic rooftop and restaurant that we frequent due to its accessibility to parking for locals. Ritual is a newer place with a jungle vibe throughout. They do offer a menu of food but it is totally a bar if you're wanting to just go for cocktails!! Good views of Marion square!
